Thanks to Billy we’ve been able to witness these creatures basic lifecycle from egg case to adulthood. The cycle is as follows.
Ootheca
Larvae
Pupae
Nymph 5 instars
Chrysalis
Imago
Advanced Imago
These creatures undergo an unprecedented Extended complete metamorphosis. This may be a key to their domination of their world. I say domination because there appear to be no other higher forms of life. As sobering a thought as this may be, they seem to be the humans of their world.
A few of my boldest colleagues propose a venture into this new world. I thinks it’s purely a desire to be somewhere other than here. But, I expressly forbade it. We’ve seen what the swarms are capable of. There is no telling how the large ones will react to the presence of another large creature they have never encountered before. The others criticized me for being too cautious, but I have no desire to lose any more researchers and I will not let our work be impeded.
