Seven days, an entire week has passed, since my last entry and still no sign of rescue. Honestly at this point it’s not in the least bit about survival here. With the facilities running at full capacity we can stay here indefinitely. We all just want to see our families again.
We’ve constructed numerous wonders of science in our waiting. From powerful atmospheric water condensers to agricultural bio processors that use our own waste to generate usable topsoil for our electrochemical grow blankets. Not to mention the second Gateway itself. It’s being refitted and fine tuned to hopefully discourage more malfunctions from occurring in future tests.
The loss of fellow researcher, Jonathan Skye, weighs heavy on our hearts still. As much as it distresses me, the creatures that had laid him low endlessly fascinate me. Does that make me a bad person? Don’t misunderstand, I miss him terribly but I can’t help myself. I just have this sense of promise coming from that swarm. I’ve actually began constructing a self-replicating networked Nano colony, after observing the creatures. I wondered if I could use them as a model of inspiration to create something similar. So far I’ve been met with success.
